It was okay, but I didn't love it. Nothing against Emily Blunt or Jason Segel. They are believable as the every-couple in love struggling with the challenges of career, expectations and dreams and whether to hold out for Mr/Ms. Right or settle for Mr/Ms 'Right Now'. In some respects, valid arguments are made for both scenarios. In the end, I just didn't feel much of anything as I left the theater. I enjoyed Emily Blunt's recent indie, "Salmon Fishing in the Yemen" a lot more, and would recommend that one instead for a solid romantic dramedy. If you can find it in a theater or On Demand.

It is not a mystery story. As with most movies this days, the previews tells you what it is all going to be. And unlike films with plot twists, I don't think knowing ahead of time diminishes this story in the least.

Mainstream Chick liked The Vow more than I did. I didn't feel any tugs at the heartstrings during this movie; it was just flat. I also checked my watch several times thinking...is this over yet?

I agree that it's a fine choice for the family. It's painless for the adults and John Krasinsky is quite endearing in this type of role. The movie feels like a bit of a throwback to those wholesome Disney dramas of yore - y'know, back when Lindsay Lohan was the poster child for good, wholesome entertainment...

It is so much more than a remake of A Star is Born, which was itself a remake of an earlier film What Price Hollywood. The Artist is brimming with references to so many films both silent and talkie, but its story is its own. And I LOVED the ending! It is a 21st century film without a doubt, but takes you back to a time when you were able to provide your own interpretations, so that every person in the audience "heard" a different movie.

There is a lot to be entertained by here but there is also way too much that we can't actually take seriously and it actually ends up being more of just a silly thriller that has a good cast, that doesn't really do much. Good review. Check out mine when you get the chance.
