I’m Your Woman is a quiet and engrossing crime drama starring Rachel Brosnahan (The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel) as a woman forced to go on the run after her thief of a husband wrongs the wrong people.

As the movie opens, we see 1970s suburban housewife Jean (Brosnahan) living what appears to be a lonely life of leisure, supported by her husband Eddie’s (Bill Heck) unlawful “career”. One day, he shows up with a baby in his arms and announces they are childless no more. Jean is not one to ask too many questions, so she embraces the baby boy and goes about her daily routine, with the addition of a stroll in the park with baby carriage in tow.

Then one day, out of the blue, one of Eddie’s nefarious pals shows up at the house and tells Jean that she’s gotta pack up the kid and get out of dodge – like, now. He tells her Eddie is on the run, and that Eddie’s old friend Cal (Arinzé Kene) has been tasked with protecting her and the baby. Cal puts the pair in a safehouse, with very specific instructions not to interact with anyone. Oops. Time for safehouse #2 – a remote one-room cabin where Cal’s wife Teri (Marsha Stephanie Blake), her son Paul (Da Mauri Parks), and her father-in-law (Frankie Faison) are also holed up.

When Cal goes missing, Jean and Teri embark on a perilous journey into Eddie’s criminal underworld, and director/co-writer Julia Hart’s film accelerates into a gripping female empowerment story about love, betrayal, motherhood, friendship, survival and taking control of your own life.

I’m Your Woman premieres on Amazon Prime Video on December 11.
