Incredibles 2 scored big at the box office in its opening weekend, and rightly so. It was a great family film for Father’s Day, and it’s certainly the early front-runner for best animated movie of 2018.
Tag is an entertaining adult ensemble comedy based on the true story of a bunch of guys who continued a childhood game of tag for more than two decades. It’ll make for a good rental or airplane movie.
A Kid Like Jake stars Claire Danes and Jim Parsons as a Brooklyn couple with a four-year-old son who prefers fairy tale princesses to toy cars. The film centers on the parents’ struggle to do right by their gender-questioning child, at home and at school.
Hearts Beat Loud is a charming indie about a father and daughter who bond over a shared love of music. They produce a catchy song that goes viral just as he’s about to close his independent record store in Brooklyn and she’s headed off to college in California.
The Misandrists is an experimental film that defies description. It’s part of a sub-genre of filmmaking called “Queercore” that I’d never heard of before. Not my cup of tea. But Charlie sorta liked it…
